Kunowa, Poland- Sales and Finance
- In the second week of February 2019, the Primary School in Kunowa hosted educational activities of our project devoted to financial issues of social enterprises. The school, in cooperation with numerous institutions prepared a very rich and attractive program of activities, both those increasing knowledge and skills in the topic of the visit, as well as promoting Polish culture and region.
Even before the visit, representatives of partner countries visited the Auschwitz-Birkenau Museum, the former German Nazi concentration and extermination camp. The visit was organized at the request of the authorities of partner schools, which wanted to give their students the opportunity to visit the memorial site for the victims of the Holocaust. On the first day of classes, students presented the effects of their local work, the legal requirements for establishing and running a social enterprise in the scope of their planned undertakings. Students of the Primary School in Kunowa presented such requirements withregard to the planned bakery. Later, teachers and students presented the school to their guests and treated them with local delicacies and snacks prepared by the Circle of Rural Housewives in Kunowa. After the snack, all participants attended a visit to the authorities of the Skołyszyn commune includind the commune administrator Bogusław Kręcisz and the deputy mayor, Paweł Gutkowski. They presented the commune and activities undertaken in the field of education and school development as well as Erasmus + projects. The partners were able to introduce their schools and get answers to their questions The second day was devoted to a visit to Krakow, where its participants could get to know the city and its basic values of cultural and historical heritage up close. The main purpose of this trip was to participate in a study visit and training on finances in a social enterprise prepared by the Equality Social Cooperative in Krakow. Similar training and workshops were prepared for us on Wednesday by Spółdzielnia Socjalna Radość from Jasło. This time, the participants obtained practical tips on running a social cooperative, they learned about the real operating costs and income of such a cooperative operating in our local conditions. As part of the workshop, they made estimates of fixed and variable costs as well as expected income for the newly planned project. The afternoon and evening of that day were devoted to extraordinary attractions prepared for the guests. First, they took part in archery workshops and then in a horse sleigh ride at the Hucul Horse Stud in Regietów.
On the next day, we visited the Vocational Activity Centre in Krosno and the Glass Heritage Centre in Krosno. At VAC we got to know the principles of operation of such an enterprise and the terms of employment of disabled people. At the Glass Heritage Centre, the participants could personally experience the production of artistic glass products and make decorations for various products.
Friday was the last day of educational activities and the day to sum them up. The students presented their financial estimates for the social enterprise, which they made during the workshops organized by the Social Cooperative “Radość”. Later, all participants paid a visit to the Carpathian Troy Museum in Trzcinica, which also prepared decoration workshops with the use of medieval symbols for the participants. In the evening, we all took part in a farewell party combined with the handing out of participation certificates, which took place at the Różana Restaurant in Skołyszyn.
