Samsun, Turkey
The third LTT activity of the EN4SE project took place in Samsun, Turkey, starting with the 1st of May and ending with the 5th of May, 2019.
Participants of the meeting presented their results of the market research, social businesses from their regions, the tools they used to identify the need for social enterprises and their ideas for their possible products/services. During the 5 days of activities participants learned about the strategic and tactical activities used to create a product/service design, how to evaluate ideas and turn them into tangible inventions or products/services. The objective was to create a good product or service in terms of quality, appearance, performance, their lives and prices.
During workshops organised by specialists, participants found the answer to the question: What is a good design?
They learned that a product should be:
- good (works well and function as promised)
- usable (has appropriate ergonomics and user interface)
- desirable (looks good)
- producible (should be capable of economical volume manufacture)
- profitable (should result in sufficient business rewards)
- differentiated (different than existing products)
Participants attended visits to local institutions working within social needs (Volunteers for Society) where they learned about local social needs and methods of problems solving. Participants were offered a presentation by Asuman Kanca entitled: Finding my own way through a social project, with useful information about her social business. A visit to the work place of women beneficiaries of this social project, was also organised. A visit to the Development Agency of the Middle Black Sea Region was organised and participants learned new things about Social Innovation and Social Business. A presentation on product and business development was offered by U4S (University for Society).
Students and teachers talked about the ACCESS FM Methodology used in designing products/services. Students were asked to design a backpack using all the elements of this methodology.
At the end of the learning/teaching/ training activity, participants tried to work out what their product/ service looked like, who the audience is. Taking part in different workshops helped them to find how they could create the perfect design for their products/services. They also built a model during the workshops, using a number of tools such as graphic design, using stationery or more important their ICT skills.
Participants were assigned to work on the design of their product/service that has to present in the following project meeting from Spain.
